A closer look at the Charles Voegele Kids Fashion Show in Zurich

Did you miss the show last weekend and would like to know how it really was? Have you ever wondered how it feels to be at a children Fashion show?

Sitting in the first row, not far from the screen, I had a great spot to watch the show. For about 45 minutes I had my eyes on the 50 kids , age 3-12 who walked on the catwalk and presented Charles Voegele Spring/Summer Collection 2012.

It all began when a Mercier clock shown on the big screen announced the starting point.

Back on stage were actress Alexa Benkert, known in “The house of Anubis” and Rapper Knackeboul. After welcoming everyone, they asked the audience to donate money for the kids.

Le’ts remember that CHF 10,000 goes to the Zurich Kinderspital charity for children in critical needs.  Nicole Schöwel, VP for communications at Charles Voegele told me that the group has been supporting the children hospital in Basel and Zurich for about three years now.

Knackeboul felt at ease in his role, making the crowd comfortable with a Rap and Hip-Pop demo. It did not take long for the crowd to send positive feed-backs and to be in a trance. With low colourful spotlights, upbeat music and beautiful songs it was hard to imagine it was only mid-morning.

Was it really a kids’ fashion show?!

At the show on Saturday, two collections were presented: Sunny Days and Happy Sun.

How was Sunny Days Rock the Block by Voegele?

Sportive and active were the kids, who walked on the catwalk. The first one, a young boy, arrived on a skateboard, one carrying  a balloon and another holding a freezby.

One boy around 11 years old even made a flip flop show accompanied by Rap music and a D.J. Everyone loved it and wanted more.

Pink is the trend for next year’s Spring & Summer. As  well you will see many denim shorts, bermudas, jeans, blouses, shirts and hats.

After 25 minutes, Swiss music star, Zazou Mall, came on board and performed two magical songs. One of them was from Whitney Houston. Zazou got famous for her performance by RTL in the German Show with Dieter Bohlen “Deutschland sucht der Superstar”.

Collection Happy Sun started with two kids pretending to play video games on the front screen. While they continued playing, more children arrived carrying colourful boxes of all sizes.

The children looked happy with the cool and comfortable clothes they were wearing: lots of cotton shawls, straw hats, bandanas, baseball hats and jeans with borders tuned upside down. Also the trend will be casual shorts and black, pink and beige dresses. The girls carried beautiful accessories like bags, glasses and belts. 2012 will be the year for dots and stripes.

The kids were able to keep all the clothes and shoes they wore on the catwalk.

Mr. Switzerland, Luca Ruch, was there supporting the kids and walked a few times on the catwalk holding the hand of a little girl, dressed in pink.

The show ended with the entire group walking one more time all together on the catwalk. It was a wonderful experience for me. It is a great place to bring your children or just go as a spectator.

During the entire time I remained in admiration. Children will really surprise you and do an amazing work, taking it seriously. I noticed good potential in some of them and will not be surprised if some make it to adult models. A few boys look as they had some much experience walking on the catwalk, it was as if they were professionals!

So next time you see a flyer for a kids fashion show, don’t hesitate and especially if it says Charles Voegele!

Since the show Neva Waldvogel, working in communications for Charles Voegele, reported back to me “We are very happy how the show went and would be very happy if next year more people come to support the kids”.

I will definitely be there!

Thanks to Neva Waldvogel for her precious help and the invitation of  Sophia Victoria Marti, Public Relations for IMG Fashion.
