King Tut sarcophagus at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo on Tahrir Square

With all of what has been happening in Egypt this past week, I could not remain indifferent. The Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square has suffered great damages on Friday January 28th. Looters who entered the building at night, broke 70 objects in the museum according to the director of the museum, Wafaa el-Saddik and the minister for Antiquities, Dr. Zahi Hawass. Luckily some Egyptians started protecting their own heritage and blocked the entrance to stop more vandalism. Now the army is also in front of the museum and it is closed.

When will it reopen to the public? Other Egyptian museums, like in Memphins and Alexandria, were robbed. Forty day before my trip to Egypt (Cairo, nile cruise and Sharm), I wonder what I will see when I go. Will the tourist sites still be opened? Will Egypt chaos be over? Should I postpone my trip? Many questions I ask myself today…

I hope Egypt will find peace again and the Egyptian people the democracy they deserve.
