Gotthard in Baar: a powerful show

Gotthard was back in the Waldmannhalle in Baar on Friday, happy to be performing once again in Switzerland after their long European and Japanese tour. A few days before, for the Swissmas Bang tour, Nic Maeder, Leo Leoni, Freddy Scherer, Hena Habbeger and Marc Lynn were rocking in Chur and Langenthal.

For two hours in front of almost 3000 people, ranging from 7 to 70 years old, the most well-known Swiss band gave a fantastic concert. After a lively beginning with the song Bang, the crowd got into the mood right from the start. Everyone was dancing and singing with Nic Maeder, the lead singer of the band. Some lucky fans even got the chance to go on stage to sing Starlight, from the album Firebirth (2012).

The 14th album of Gotthard, BANG, was released in April and jumped right away number 1 in the Swiss charts.

In Baar the concert had started with two great performances, the first one from the Canadian/Swiss, Fabien Anderhub followed by the Swiss German pop singer, Baschi. Both singers had great fun on the stage and made sure the audience was ready for the arriving of Gotthard. Baschi of course sung his popular hits Irgendwie Wunderbar and the UEFA EURO 2008 Swiss song Bring En Hei! He said it is a dream come true singing before Gotthard as he was a fan of the band when he was a kid.

There were some powerful moments like when Leo Leoni played a piece music for this friend, Steve Lee, the former lead singer, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2010. More great moments were when Nic Mader performed the most beautiful and known ballad of the band, One Life One Soul (1997) and Anytime, Anywhere (2005). The song C’est La Vie, from the latest album, performed with an accordion by Nic was beautiful just like Thank You, a song written for all the mothers of our world. With Feel What I Feel, the ambience felt just right.

In Baar the Gotthard fans had definitely found their piece of heaven!
