Premium Modern Art from Heilbronn (Germany) will be present this March at the 10th modern art fair in Karlsruhe. It will be the biggest fair of Premium Modern Art since Ted Bauer, the director of the gallery, opened it in 2012.
The gallery represents exclusively the well-known American Pop Art artist, James Francis Gill, since January 2012 in Europe, Russia and Switzerland. One month later the paintings of James Gill arrived in Heilbronn. Mr. Bauer explained in an interview for the magazine Hanix, how the artwork was shipped to Germany and arrived at night in two trucks.
Ted Bauer, who has been interested in art since his childhood, said in the same interview how the work of Gill touches him. He has been in contact with Gill since 2007 and visited him in the United States, where he lives with his wife Ann Gill.
Last year in fall Mr. Bauer took part at the International Art fair in Zurich. He had invited Francis Gill to come and sign the just finished serigraphs of Hans-Peter Haas of some of Gill’s paintings. For that occasion James flew from San Angelo, Texas, with his wife.
Hans Peter Haas is a German master in artistic screen-printing, working in Leinfelden-Echterdingen (near Stuttgart). Premium Modern Art presents ten signed and limited editions of James Gill such as “Marilyn in the Sky”, “Nude on a green Balcony” and “No more MM”. They were made from original paintings and are limited to an edition of 80 pieces.
In Karlsruhe just like in Zurich, Premium Modern Art will show the serigraphs and in addition the visitors will be able to enjoy some originals of one of the most famous Pop artist of our time. If owning an original can cost a fortune, one serigraph is priced between 2000 and 4000 euros.
James Gill’s artworks are exhibited in the United States in many museums such as the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art and the Whitney Museum. It was with his ”Marilyn Triptych”, a painting printed in “Life Magazine” in 1963, fifty years ago this year, that he got noticed.
