History of Pizza Margherita: a real pizza to honor a queen

Did you know that this year the famous pizza Margherita is turning 120?
It all started when the Italian Queen, Margherita, ate a pizza for the first time in 1889 during a trip to Naples, South of Italy.  She fell in love with a dish, which was eaten then by the poors. She asked the cook Esposito to come to her to make her pizzas; he invented the Pizza Margherita and everyone in Italy started eating it.

Pizza margherita is made with sliced tomatoes, basil and mozarella cheese.
