Zurich for New Year’s Eve
Are you looking for a place to ring in the New Year? Are you a fan of fireworks?
If you live in Switzerland you know that the place to celebrate the New Year is Zurich. The lake of Zurich all lit up with the beautiful fireworks, the festive atmosphere in the city, the live bands and the food make it all worthwhile staying up late that night.

200,000 people are expected this year to participate. The city of Zurich has been having its own fireworks since 1988 and it will be this year sponsored by the Zurich hoteliers like the last 11 years. The fireworks are launched from two large anchored boats all loaded with sand for safety reason. The team of workers from the firework company Hirt & Co in Wollerau will prepare the boats on December 30th & 31st and load 1500 rockets in the canons one by one.
At 00.20 exactly after all the lights in the city of Zurich have been turned off, the firework will start and marvel everyone for twenty minutes!
Everyone knows that a firework in Zurich is all worth getting out that night.

The parties will start well before midnight. Starting at 8:00 pm. the stands and bars will be opened. At 11:40 p.m. until 11:58 the old year will be rung out and after the 1 minute count down at midnight the New Year will be rung in. The parties will continue until 3:00 a.m.
You can find parties in hotels and bars but there are also live bands outside. No matter if love rock, pop, jazz or soul music, there will be something for everyone’s taste.

- Pure 80’s on Bürkliplatz
- Silvester Disco on Hechtplatz from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
