My favorite pictures of my trip to Egypt (June – July 2011)

Warm and clear Red Sea, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, peaceful and beautiful Sinai desert

Last night I came back late from Sharm el Sheikh, where I spent an amazing week.

The program was:

  • snorkling and looking for shells on Naama Bay

  • taking a camel ride in the Sinai desert

  • driving through the Sinai desert and along the Gulfs of Aqaba and Suez

  • enjoying tea time and learning how to make bread with the Bedouins

  • visiting the Oasis of Firan

  • visiting the St. Catherine monastery

  • stopping at a mosque in El-Tur

  • enjoying an evening in Naama Bay

  • taking pictures of sunrises and sunsets

For me flying to the destination I am going to is a way to discover the world. The earth from above is really magical. We flew over many lakes like the Lake Gardas, above seas like the Adriatic Sea, above the Greek islands and also above Venice, Athens, Santorini, Dubrovnik, Alexandria, Cairo and Moses Mountains.

I could not resist and got up one morning at 4:00 a.m. for a spectacular sunrise.

My son enjoyed running after crabs and following them into their hidding spots.

That day the coast of the Red Sea near Sharm el Sheikh was extremly clear.

We stopped at a mosque in El Tur on the way along the Gulf of Suez.

I enjoyed walking in the cactus garden of our hotel.

For the first time, I visited an oasis, on the way back to Sharm after visiting the monastery of St. Catherine. I spent two hours in the Oasis of Firan.

Wow! the desert is really beautiful!

The visit of the monastery of St Catherine was peaceful and informative. Afterthat we stopped for an Oriental lunch at Daniela’s the best restaurant in St. Catherine.

I enjoyed my 40 minute camel ride: a first time for me but sure not the last.

The reward of the camel trip was the sunset over the Sinai mountains.

On the way back, our trip could have been called the evening sunset flight. From the time we flew until we landed we saw one sunset after another.

Until next time Sharm!
