Poires Belle-Hélène ready to be served

What is the origin of Poires Belle-Hélène?

It was invented for the opening of Offenbach’s opera “La Belle-Hélène” in December 1864.
It is made with sliced pears and served with vanilla ice-cream and hot chocolate.

What you need:

1 pear (fresh or from a can)
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
Dark chocolate topping
1 teaspoon of roasted almonds

How to make it:

1. Find an appropriate serving bowl and put your pear into it cut in 2.
2. Saute the almonds and remove when it is lightly brown.
3. Put one scoop of vanilla icream on top of the pear.
4. Pour some melted chocolate on top. I use a chocolate bottle that I can warm up in the microwave oven for 30 seconds. It is convenient and rapid.
5. Sprinkle the almonds and serve immediately.
Lovely in the summer months or for a nice occasion!
