The Landiwiese is once more getting ready for another exciting weekend. This time it is neither the Knie Circus, nor the marathon nor the Theater Spectacle which will take place there but a Freestyle competition.
This is not the first time the competition will happen in Zurich. Last year it celebrated its 15th anniversary. It is the largest competition in Europe bringing together snowboarders, skateboarders, BMX riders and freeskiers.
While many have been enjoying the Indian Summer along the Zurich lake, others have been busy preparing for the Freestyle event. And this is hard work mounting the giant ski jump, making the snow, building the tents, getting the podium for the concerts ready and delivering the beers.
Raiffensen, Rivella, Nokia and Beck’s are everywhere on the Landiwiese!!!
For the first time in 2010, the show will only be in 2 days rather than 3 days. It is expected to bring about 35,000 fans to the Landiwiese. In 2008, 46,000 people came to watch the shows.
There will be 12 snow boarders from different countries such as Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada and the Nordic Countries. There will be 16 freeskiers mainly Americans and Swedish.
Last year alone more than 100,000 dollars were given out in prizes.
There will also be two concerts.
