Berlin and its film stars

Hundreds of film stars have bombarded the capital of Germany since the beginning of the Berlinale on February 7th. Many have come for the Cinema for Peace Gala, for the International Film Festival, for a film shooting, for a sponsoring event or for many other reasons.

Actors Matt Damon, Hugh Jackman, John Krasinski, Anne Hathaway, Ethan Hawke, Jude Law, Isabelle Huppert, Nina Hoss, Juliette Binoche, Julie Delply, Jeremy Irons, Jeffrey Rush, Martina Gedeck, Amanda Seyfreied were at the Berlinale to present a film sometimes two films, just like film directors Guillaume Nicloux, Bruno Dumont, Gus Van Sant, Thomas Arlan, Molgoska Szumoska and Sebastian Lelio.

Steven Soderbergh, who came to present his latest film “Side Effects”, is already at his 5th Berlinale. American director Richard Linklater was surprised with the Golden Camera award after the screening of his comedy film “Before Midnight”.

Some reports mentioned Gerard Depardieu was in town for a vodka sponsoring event, George Clooney was seen at the Grill Royal eating dinner with Damon. Hugh Grant and Bruce Willis were also here for a short period of time.

Just like Linklater, Isabella Rossellini received the Golden Camera award at the Berlinale while actresses Veronica Ferres and Charlize Theron awards at the Cinema for Peace Gala.

Last night the star on the podium of the Berlinale was the documentary film maker, Claude Lanzmann, who received an Honorary Golden Bear.

More stars are expected during the next few days in Berlin.
