MichellePetit: Interior Design that makes you shine

About Michelle
Michelle has worked for more than 25 years in real estate and interior design. Her passions are nonfiction books, psychology, history and business podcasts. She is Swiss with English and Italian heritage. She is a mother of two children (23 & 19) and she lives on the Albis with her 3 dogs.

Her story
Michelle is a red hair power woman who has this unique action taking attitude. It comes naturally to her and it is something she loves. She rarely hesitates if rooms or spaces need change.

“Hesitation is never a good guide – it keeps us away from trying things out.”

Among taking action and change, there is still room for structure and fun when she is involved in a project.  Often the fun part brings back the motivation when challenges show up in a tricky room.

Her role in the world is to help women with their lack of creativity in their homes. She wants to support and show them in a very effective and simple way, how to get rid of fear and release inner creativity so that decoration and change is easily done.

What makes her outstanding in the big crowd of interior designer?
This could sound like fishing for compliments, but after the workshop she did with her mentor Sigrun, she came to the following conclusions:
• She is definitely an immediate action taker and with this unique hands-on attitude.
• Her way of thinking when it comes to interior design is sustainable; she considers all items, all furniture and all decoration supplies before investing in buying new stuff.
• The goal is always to create the best possible ambiance with existing items & pieces of furniture.

Often there is no need to buy new things – because all exiting items can be reused or just used in a different way or place. In a blink of an eye, I can tell if a room feels like home and what’s needed if it doesn’t.

Her business
The main reason why she founded PetitBox was based on the fact that interior designers are often driven by self-fulfilment and their own ideas how a room, space or decoration must be.

In the world of PetitBox the focus is clearly on creating a home, as it’s much more than just decorating or building new walls. Pinterest and Interior architects can give us hints and nice ideas, but this, on the other hand, can lead us to feeling overwhelmed and self-doubt.

Interior Design is a bold expression used in many ways and often mispresented when it comes to homes and spaces. Instead of playing the game “warm, warmer, hot!” – Interior Designers create a space, without implementing beloved items, inherited pieces or personal styles and confront their clients with a finished product.

Her conclusion, and the reason she started PetitBox, was interior design and Pinterest pictures aren’t’ everyone’s cup of tea and not everyone wants and needs to rebuild their houses /apartments with expensive brands and labels. Most people she got to know along the way want to be involved in creating their UNIQUE feeling of being at home as an individual with all their items and furniture they like. They want to create a cosy home with their own stuff and furniture – but the HOW TO CREATE PROCESS is missing.

PETITBOX will turn into MICHELLEPETIT.COM in the next couple of days – and where she will walk her clients through the process of creating their dream spaces with joy and fun.
