Circus Conelli magical come back on the Bauschänzli island
Are you looking for an unforgettable spectacle to celebrate the holiday season? Then, why not the Circus Conelli?
This week the Gasser family opened the doors of their winter circus under the motto “z’Züri dihei”. The red chapiteau is back on the Bauschänzli island after 3 a year’s break due to Covid.
We went for the Première and had a fabulous time under the full chapiteau. This year is an important date as the Gasser family is celebrating their 40th anniversary.
Conelli is a family business. Roby Gasser works there with his wife, Cindy Gasser Lee, who he met many years ago, while he was working in Las Vegas. Their sons, Jeremy and Tyler, are both very active in the circus.
Conelli circus was the first winter circus in Zurich, established by Conny Gasser in 1982, and is today the most beloved circus in town.
The Conelli red tent with its bright stars located near the Limmat has not always been there. In 1982, the performances were at Bellevue near the Zurich Opera House. Conny Gasser named the circus after himself and a decade later moved it to the island.
Conelli’s program appeals to every kind of crowd. The show is a succession of the highest levels of circus acts with acrobats, equilibrists, magicians, jugglers, balanced with poetry and amazing singing and dancing performances.
The usual duo of clowns, Gaston & Roli never ceases to make the crowd laugh years after years. The sensation of the program was for us the outstanding balancing performance of Lili Chao Rigolo. While moving gently with grace and extreme hand-eye coordination, she formed a wooden structure with thirteen palm leaf ribs. All of the wooden beams have different lengths and weights, and all start with a feather. This solo performance will keep your breath away.
Over the years well-known stars and personalities have come to assist at a show or perform at Conelli. Some of them are Prince Rainier of Monaco, Michael Schumacher, Fabienne Louves, Roberto Blanco, Udo Jürgens, Harry Belafonte, Milos Forman, Boney M and Percy Sledge.
If you have never been to Conelli, it is not too late to start a family tradition. You will without a doubt make lasting memories and leave with a huge smile on your face and filled with the Christmas spirit!
