A village hard to forget no matter if you are 5, 15, 75 or older
Angles sur l’Anglin, located in the Vienne department, is a beautiful French village, labelled “Village Fleuri” (flowery village) and “Plus Beaux Villages de France” (Nicest French Villages).
The best is to park your car at the Chateau Guichard on the Ville Haute (upper town). Visit the old fortress if opened. You will enjoy the great views of the river l’Anglin, the valley and the Ville Basse (lower town).
Then start your tour of the Ville Haute, wandering through the streets. You will have amazing views of the ruined castle and the bridge. In the upper town there are many créperies, where you may want to stop for lunch.
Go down to the bridge for views of the old windmill and wander under it. Stop at the end of the bridge at the recently opened Salon de Thé N° 15. A British couple from Manchester opened the lovely tearoom in June after two years of renovations. You can eat on the terrace or prefer sitting inside. It also has great salads like the salad with goat cheese. Don’t miss the delicious ice-creams, cupcakes or homemade cakes!

On the way back to the car, once you have passed the bridge, look on the right side at the old blue dovecote.
Drive to the Roc des Sorciers, the Wiches Rock and go back in time 15,000 years. The site, which opened in 2008, has some Magdalenian sculptures. It has guided tours and 30 minutes to 1h30 minutes is recommended for the visit.
