Anyone hungry for a cupcake? (Part 2)
Our other cupcake lady in Zurich is Michelle Burke, half Swiss, half British. She fell in love with cupcakes in 2008.
After working for fifteen years at the airport she decided it was time to make a change. She reduced her hours, began baking and thinking how to finance a shop. She worked on her website and visited trendy markets with her delicious cupcakes.

Since last September she is the happy baker of Michelles Cupcakes in the Luisenstrasse in Zurich. “It has been a lot of work, but a lot of fun,” she confessed.
She bakes in her back kitchen in which she has a large oven. 95% of walking people buy something, she shared.

She has a lovely shop with a couple seats inside where you can drink a coffee or a tea and eat cupcakes. It is decorated with great taste. She also sells baking accessories, dishes, things coming out the ordinary and even cupcake piggy-banks!
Michelles Cupcakes was featured in many popular magazines like Annabelle and Gala. Even Myriam from SRF came and baked with her! You can view the TV shows here.

Michelle offers about 8 flavours, 6 standards and one season special (strawberry when I saw her) and 1 weekly special. I recommend her lemon cupcakes. Michelle confessed eating about 2 cupcakes a day and loving the carrot and cream cheese flavour. She uses both buttercream and cream cheese toppings.
Today at noon Michelle is opening a brand new cupcakery in Kreis 1 in Zurich. This had been her biggest dream but what’s important to her is that her cupcakes make people happy!

I wonder how Michelle Burke and Melanie Jones remain so slim with all of these amazing cupcakes around them!!!!
But as Melanie said it so well “you should not worry about calories when eating a cupcake!”
