The Bellamy Brothers do not need anymore introduction after more than 50 albums in 40 years of musical career. The legendary American duo, made of Howard and David, has been rocking crowds all over the world with their beautiful country and pop songs. The cowboys brothers, originally from Darby in Florida, got famous with their 1976 hit “Let the Love Flow”. Last night at the Volkshaus in Zurich that song had not aged a bit!
The Bellamy Brothers started their Swiss tour on Monday in Lucerne. In addition they will be playing in Basel, Herisau,Bern and Davos. They did not come alone but are touring with the Swiss German rocker, Gölä (Marco Pfeuti).
If you are not familiar with Gölä he made his debut in 1998 with “Uf u dervo”, selling 300.000 albums. Since the very likeable tattooed man did more than recording in Swiss German, he also made some popular albums in English. Gölä received many awards along the years and recently teamed up with the Bellamy Brothers. Quickly a real friendship was born.
In 2010 the three met for the first time and recorded the “BB&G – The Greatest Hits Sessions”. The album did so well it remained number 1 on the Swiss albums chart for 6 consecutive weeks. That explains why the Bellamy Brothers and Gölä decided to work together once more in 2014. The new album “Bellamy Brothers & Gölä – Mermaid Cowgirl” came out in September.
At the Volkshaus the rhythm was definitely there with the old hits of the Bellamy’s repertoire “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me”, “She’s Awesome”, “Redneck Girl” but also with the new ones like “The older you get”, “Jet Lag Journey”, ” I must be in Switzerland” and “Adios Aufwiedersehn.”
During 1 h 40 minutes, the atmosphere in the room was fantastic. The trio had fun playing and singing together and the fans had a marvelous time. There was no doubt that everyone loved country last night!
