Daniel Hope with the musicians of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra ended the season with a beautiful and uplifting concert at the Tonhalle Maag in Zurich last night.
The director of the orchestra, Daniel Hope, said he was very happy to be back and playing.
The program started with the Serenade for string orchestra in e-Moll op. 20 of British composer Edward Elgar (1957-1934). It was followed by the Brandenburg concerto Nr. 5 D-Dur BWV 1050 of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) with Stéphane Réty (transverse flute), Naoki Kitaya (Cembolo), Daniel Hope (violin) and the ZKO.
Then the orchestra played the grandiose piece of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)The Four Season The Sommer opus 8 RV 315. It ended with the beautiful waltz of Russian composer Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), the Pezzo in forma di sonatina: Andante non troppo — Allegro moderato) from the stringserenade in C-Dur op.48.
The Zurich Chamber Orchestra played under special circumstances due to the regulations of Covid-19. There were two concerts of 1 hour each at 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm. Each event could only have a maximum of 300 guests.
The next season starting in the Fall is a special anniversary for ZKO as it is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The program will be published on July 2. For more information and abonnement click here.
