The co-directors of the Zurich Film Festival Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri will reward on Friday October 4th one of the most well-known Hollywood actors, Harrison Ford, with a Golden Eye for Lifetime Achievement. He will receive it at the Corso Cinema at 8 pm.
Schildknecht and Spoerri said about the 71 years old: “Harrison Ford has had one of the most remarkable careers of any actor in cinema, helping to propel two of the greatest movie franchises by bringing to life iconic roles that have become just as famous as the films themselves. Few actors have commanded the leading man role that Harrison Ford has embodied throughout his career, and continues to showcase in every new project. We are honored to present him with our Golden Eye at this year’s Festival.”
Since his first movie in 1966, he played in over 50 movies.
Who has not heard about the most successful films of our time, Star Wars and Indiana Jones, which all received Oscar nominations? And that is not all, Ford had great successes with films like Frantic (1988), Presumed Innocent (1990), Sabrina (1995), the Fugitive (1995), Air Force One (1997) and What Lies Beneath (2000).
Along the years, Ford worked with remarquable directors like Ridley Scott, Wolfgang Petersen, Alan Paluka, Roger Michell, Sydney Pollack, Roman Polanski, Steven Spielberg and George Luca.
At the moment Harrison Ford is touring Europe ahead of the release of his next film, the sci-fi action adventure, Ender’s Game, directed by Gavin Hood.
A special screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) by Steven Spielberg will follow the award ceremony.
While Harrison Ford has never received an Oscar, he got a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute in 2000. A couple years later the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s honoured his work with a Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Since 2003 he has his own star in the Hollywood Hall of fame!
