Interview with Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar (Part I)
A conversation with Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar reveals the essence of Spiritualism Art, what Shiva and his art creation mean.
What are your artworks about?
Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar:
I am honored to transmit Spiritualism Art as part of Indian heritage through my artwork. My paintings represent the light of the enlightened Shiva. They transmit the soul, the self and my search for Shiva.
My Shiva paintings create the Creator with total devotion and in a flow of drawings and colors. They are not only pictures for the eyes, but for the soul and the heart.
It gives me the cosmic constellation of Indian spiritual design, symbology and symbols. The form is a function of initiation, inspiration and innovation. These spiritualism pictures are not only pictures, but also an impression of the conventional representations of the spiritual. It is also faith and trust of transcendent art, where the form comes from, as an image of the imagination, which creates the initiation and intuition.
Energy of Enlightenment (5-headed Shiva) – Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar
My Shiva images bring the light of the enlightenment experience that I have in my meditation. The forms are like those I have seen in visions since childhood and, in temples. I reproduce these impressions in my paintings. It is the perception of the soul of the viewer, a play of colors, concepts and context. My works of art and artistic creation have been shaped by multidimensional, experiential learning in art, spirituality, culture, by creativity, theatre and transcendental knowledge, by multidimensional perception and visualization.
By being with multidimensional, spiritual, global people in recent years, I have been able to expand spiritualism as an experiential Indian art.
This “-ism”, spiritualism is synergy – harmony – initiation – expansion and awakening of SHIVA, it embraces all of humanity. SHIVA means Simplicity, Humanity, Innovation, Vastness, Awareness.
Why did you choose spiritualism and Shiva as an art object?
Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar:
Spiritualism and the last twelve art exhibitions I have held is an art from and for the heart, it is self-expression and a journey from being to becoming. It is art that goes beyond perception. Spiritualism creates the creator of the creative self, it is my journey from the I to the We and to Him (God) that form a Trinity. In my art I express the image which is intuitive, inspiring and inquisitive.
Spiritualism, through which I express myself in my paintings, is my art movement that has lived with me for the last 21 years, through my journey of enlightening experiences.
Beyond decoration, I see my art as resonance with nature, the reflection of the nature of SHIVA = Symphony – Harmony – Innovation – Vibration – Awakening of Humanity and music of meditation.

My concept ranges from the Vedic Shiva to the Shiva that says, “The soul is a dancer”. It is the expression from the breath of creation, into the space of the canvas, a creation of the visual theatre of the divine design of the Indian concept of communication with the existential spirit of humanity, in the masculine and feminine form of Shiva.
My paintings are a dance of the lyrical lines of Shiva’s existence and with the colorful harmonies of the Shakti energies and the rainbow colors surrounding them. I do not hesitate to express the colors of infinity with the limited color palette of the global style. I create my paintings with fullness and freedom of expression, with thoughts of perception-based performance, the synergizing, harmonizing, intuitive, vibrating consciousness of the viewer. The rhythms and rituals of my creations are a free expression and go beyond the spheres of art and art movements.
When I create the spiritualism pictures, I feel one. Spiritualism is a self-chosen path of artistic expression. I have created drawings for poems, I have created films, art and educational videos for education, for the purpose of the progress of humanity in various ways. But my paintings go beyond this purpose of limited vision.
It is about the infinite possibility of SHIVA = Simplicity – Humanity – Increased – Value – Waking up. My images carry the Indian tradition of giving, giving bliss, giving peace, giving a concept and context in communicating with the energy of the Infinite.
What techniques do you use and why is your work unique?
Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar:
I use multidimensional techniques and styles because my focus is on expressing my thoughts and traditions in a conceptual and contextual way to communicate with the viewer.
In my paintings light is very important. The light brings the life of consciousness and is the path of my creation. I use multidimensional means of expression to bring out the light in the works with their power. I use all techniques, from pencil to pencil, pastels, acrylic and oil colors to create my works of art. I use spray to create a shine and I use multimedia art to make an impression on the imaginary, intuitive impressions of the painting. I don’t hold back and I don’t think I am limited with colors or techniques. I use all means to achieve the final goal of creation and expression. Always experimenting is my nature. I use different techniques to create a multidimensional effect of awakening consciousness in my paintings.
