The French actress Juliette Binoche received on Saturday night the Excellence Award at the Locarno Film Festival. The official champagne of the festival, Moët & Chandon, rewards actors and actresses with this prize since 2004.
The previous years popular stars such as Charlotte Rampling, Isabelle Huppert and Sir Christopher Lee received the Excellence Award.
It is in front of 8000 people that Juliette Binoche received hers on the Piazza Grande. The managing director for Moët Hennessy Switzerland, Mrs Nadine Fau, accompanied by the artistic director of the festival, Carlo Chatrian, handed out the prize to her.
Juliette Binoche is internationally known and has played roles in over 40 films such as the “Amant du Pont-Neuf” (1991), the “English Patient” (1996), for which she received an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress, “Chocolat” (2000), “Caché” (2005) and “Camille Claudel 1915” (2013). Her latest film “Clouds of Sils Maria” is now on the screens.
