The British film “A Long Way Down” from the producers Finola Dwyer and Amanda Dosey celebrated its Première in Zurich on Wednesday night. After a get-together at the Hackett store in Paradeplatz the Swiss promis and the stars of the film arrived on the red carpet of the Corso cinema.
The actors Walter Müller and Kiki Maeder, the C.E.O. of Havas Worldwide Frank Bodin, the politician Doris Fiala and her daughter, the musician Christian Jenny and of course the Zurich Film Festival directors Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri were at the Première.
Followed by the DCM team came the actresses Toni Colette and Imbogen Poots, all dressed in sexy attires.
French director, Pascal Chaumeil, answered questions to reporters. The film is Chaumeil’s first film in the English language. He enjoyed working with all of the actors. He praised on the stage after the film how much they all knew their lines so well and how professional they were. He explained how doing the film was so natural for him.
“A Long Way Down” is an adaptation of the 2005 novel of Nick Hornby and Chaumeil does not hide he is one of his fans and of British literature in general.
The former James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan, arrived at last with his mother, Mary Carmichael. She had accompanied him one day before for the screening at the Berlinale. Brosnan, dressed like a perfect gentleman, was happy to be with his mum, originally from Drogheda (Ireland) just like him. He explained how he likes caring for her as he is her only child and confessed on the carpet that is what good Irish boys do!
At the questions/answers on the podium after the Première, Toni Colette explained how much she enjoyed the script from the start and agreed to do it.
Imbogen Poots, who plays Jess in the film, is known to have once said: “this is a dream role.”
All actors spent so much time working and eating together that they became friends. They did not hide they may work again on another film together.
The black comedy will be released in Switzerland and Germany on April 3rd.
