After “Cars” (2006) Walt Disney released this January “Planes”, a 3D animation film. It is directed by Klay Hall and written and produced by John Lasseter, who had also participated in “Cars”. The film received a great success and won a Golden Globe for best animated film in 2006.
The 91 minute story is about Dusty, a crop hopper, whose biggest dream is to participate in a racing competition, the Wings across the World Rally. He makes it to the qualifications but to win he will have to learn how fly high. Dusty is afraid of heights! An old plane from WWII, Skipper, gives him good tips and Dusty leaves for the race.
Dusty is friendly, a gentle plane, always ready to help others. He soon has to learn who his enemies are like Ripslinger, the title holder. Dusty easily makes friends like with the Mexican plane, El Chupacabra, the British plane, Ishani, and the lovely racing plane, Rochelle.
The film has great animations, is very colourful and the children will appreciate the races above the Himalayas, the stormy ocean, the landing over the JFK airport or just the flights over the field crops.
For those who have seen “Cars”, there are plenty of cars in the movie!
The film is now available as a D.V.D. but also in Blu Ray 3D and in Blu Ray.
“Planes” is a trilogy and the second part will be out this summer.
