The Australian actress, Cate Blanchett, who just turned 50 this year, will receive a Golden Icon Award this evening at the Zurich Film Festival. It will be one more award to her long list, with 2 Oscars (Aviator & Blue Jasmine) , 3 BAFTA awards and 3 Golden Globe awards (Elizabeth, Blue Jasmie & I am not there) .
Since 1992 with over 70 films Blanchett has played for so many re-known film directors like Woody Alen, Martin Scorseses, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Ridley Scott, Tom Tykwer, Steven Soderberg, Jim Jarmusch, Peter Jackson and Ron Howard.
She has played major roles at the side of Brad Pitt, Leonardo di Caprio, Ralph Finnes, George Clooney, Tommy Lee Jones, Judy Dench, Jude Law and Matt Demon.
No matter if she was Queen Elizabeth, an CIA agent, Katherin Hepburn, an historian or an housewife she proved she could play all the roles and made us cry and laugh more than once.
At the Corso Cinema at 7 pm she will present her newest film “Where’d you go, Bernadette”, a tragic comedy by film director Richard Linklater.
She is expected on the green carpet tonight sometimes after 6.30 pm.
