The best gelati (Italy, Switzerland & France)

Something fun to do in the summer is to eat gelati and sorbets. We selected a couple places well worth stopping at:

 

ITALY

Bar/Gelateria Serenissima in Salo, Garda Lake

• Offers many flavours, from the traditional and to more unusual ones.
• We liked the amarena and red fruits. Ice-cream is very creamy.
•  Has nice sitting areas inside and outside in addition to the take away possibility.
• Located on the promenade in Salo.
• Expect long queues on sunny days.

Sommariva Gelataria in Venice

• Generous scoops of ice creams!
• Friendly and quick.
• Located on Via Castello 4515 – near the Rialto bridge

La Dolce Vita, Malcesine, Garda Lake

• Has great homemade ice creams with frozen yogurt and sorbets.
• Gelateria, run by an older couple, has lots of flavours.
• We enjoyed the lime and malaga.
• Located on Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi 13 at the end of a street where the ferry comes.

Miralago Bar/Gelateria, Torri del Benaco, Garda Lake

• Homemade ice creams with excellent chocolate, strawberry and Malaga flavours.
• Friendly service.
• The place has pizzas as well.
• Located in the village near the lake on 15, Piazza Umberto I

 

 

Venchi Il Gelato in Verona

• Expect long queues to order a delicious ice cream at this gelateria.
• We loved the dark chocolate, strawberry and mint flavours.
• Located on the busy street via Mazzini 44

 

SWITZERLAND

Pfenniger Café Rigi Mountain, Canton of Lucerne

• It only has a couple flavors.
• We enjoyed the Malaga with lots of rum flavour.
• Located right where the train arrives.

 

FRANCE

Salon de thé 15, Angles sur l’Anglin (Poitou Charentes)

• Ice creams from Carré d’Or
• We enjoyed the stracciatella and mint flavours.
• Has a lovely terrace and an inside tea room.
• The owners from Manchester also serve salads, sandwiches, cupcakes, homemade cakes and scones.
• Located on 15 rue du Pont

 

 

Ladurée, Paris

• The famous French macarons store in Paris offers more than that. It has delicious sorbets.
• We enjoyed the lime sorbet, very refreshing on hot summer days.
• Located on 16 & 18 Rue Royale
