The Poetry of the Piano: Milica Lawrence’s Intimate Finale for the Guido Agosti Piano Series

Why not end the season with a lullaby?

As spring unfolds in Romagna, the city of Forlì comes alive with music once again. The Rassegna Guido Agosti Piano Series, a beloved tradition among piano enthusiasts, returns with its final concert, a gentle and poetic evening titled The Ladybird’s Lullaby, featuring pianist Milica Lawrence.

In collaboration with the Gala Music Festival, directed by Diego Melfi, the Guido Agosti Piano Series has become an highlight of Forlì’s cultural life. Celebrating the expressive range of the piano, the Series draws acclaimed performers and emerging artists and devoted audiences to the intimate Sala Sangiorgi.

The Series is curated by Forlì Cultura, an association founded in 2023 to promote artistic excellence and support musical education. Nicolò Giuliano Tuccia, award-winning pianist, President of the Guido Agosti Piano Series, and Artistic Director of Forlì Cultura, has been a driving force behind the initiative. Under his leadership, the association has rapidly grown into a key cultural presence in the Romagna region. Vice President Chiara Bolognesi plays an essential role in shaping and sustaining its vision.

Born in 1999, Tuccia is widely regarded as one of the most compelling pianists of his generation. With more than 50 national and international awards to his name, he has performed across Europe and the U.S., with recent concerts from Vienna to San Francisco. His debut CD, featuring works by Julius Benedict, was released in April, and in June he will travel to New York for solo performances at the Klavierhaus.

The 2025 edition of the Guido Agosti Piano Series brought together six remarkable pianists: Giuseppe Lo Cicero, Andrei Makarov, Gianluca Faragli, Ekaterina Chebotareva, and Shunta Morimoto. Each recital offered a distinct musical voice and perspective, bringing together sounds from different eras, styles and cultures.

Now we look forward to the final recital by Dr. Milica Lawrence, an internationally acclaimed pianist and harpsichordist whose career spans Europe and North Africa. Known for her refined touch and lyrical depth, she is also the founder of the Malta Piano Academy and the Malta International Piano Festival, and a tireless advocate for music education and performance.
