The Zurich Festival (Züri Fäscht) is back: a celebration every three years since 1976!
If you have never been in Zurich during the Züri Fäscht, it is not too late to book a hotel or to come to Zurich for the celebration.
It will be a mega extended weekend with air, water and land shows for everyone to enjoy in the city, river and along the Zurich lake!
The festival, sponsored by the Canton of Zurich and the city itself is estimated to cost 5.5 Millions Franks (4.7 Millions dollars). Three years ago about 300,000 liters (65 gallons) of beer were consumated in less than 3 days!
I have been here four years and can’t wait to experience my second Zurich festival!

When is exactly the Züri Fäscht?
It always happens the first weekend of July. So this year it will be from July 2d-July 4th.
It begins on Friday afternoon at 5p.m. and ends Sunday night at midnight.
Züri Fäscht fireworks:
There will be two firework displays with music. If they are as good as three years ago, try to make it early to the shore of the lake.
It will be on Friday and Saturday nights: the first firework is an Italian creation from Antonio Parente and the second one from the German, Joachim Berner.
Starting time is 23:00 p.m. It will lasts about 30 minutes.
Air shows:
One attraction not to miss is the airplane shows above the lake of Zurich.
In 2007, the Red Bull Air race team showed their talents at the Züri Fäscht during two amazing afternoon shows. The team will be back this year. See here for more photos of the loopings.
In addition come to watch the Patrouille Suisse and the Swiss Air Force.
Water shows:
You can watch water sports on the Limmat, on the Zurich lake and over city bridges such as the Rathausbrücke and Quaibrücke.
There will be amazing bicycle acrobats, speed boat races and diver jumps.

Züri Fäscht and its music entertainment:
If you like music, the festival will have something for everyone from Hip-Hop to rock to children’s concerts.
The popular Latin Music Festival – Caliente comes to Zürich this year for its celebration. If you want to be a part of the party reserve your seats.
There will be a total of 60 concert podiums in the city.
Transportation during the Züri Fäscht:
Zurich will become a traffic free city and will offer 1000 extra buses and trams and 450 additional train rides (S-bahn).
Order your program:
Unfortunately, the website does not let you check the program. You have to order it or you will be able to buy it there directly at the festival.
If you want to buy it in advance for 6,50 Franks, you can do that.
So it’s going be loud and busy around the city and very colorful in the Zurich sky!
