1. Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
The exhibit retraces Lewis and Clark’s difficult expedition. They discovered the Great Falls of the Missouri in Montana in June 1805, forcing them to take a 18-mile detour and costing them one month. Don’t miss the short talks near the river.
2. Giant Springs Park
Visit the trout hatchery and marvel at the smallest river in the world, the river Roe (201 feet), whose source is the largest sweetwater spring in the U.S. Early evenings are magical.
3. River’s Edge Trail
It is the locals’ favorite place for walks in all seasons. The scenery along the water is breathtaking with the Great Falls’ dams and views of the Little Belt Mountains.
4. C.M. Russell Museum
Who doesn’t know Charles M. Russell in Montana, where he lived for 46 years and painted American Indians and Western landscapes? He died in Great Falls over 80 years ago in 1926.
5. Scenic drives
Historic building: The Ursuline Centre, 2300 Central Avenue is an amazing place to visit as well. The art studio, historic artifacts from the early days, retreat center, chapel, gym, preschool in this 100 year old building. Tours are given anytime. Do stop by- you’ll have to stop by here next visit – You can even stay in the Bishops Parlor. A bedroom connected to a huge living room with paintings like you’ve never seen. …it’s beautiful…
