Here are a few good restaurants and cafés, perfect during your stay in Berlin for the Berlinale:
The American restaurant founded in Miami in 1972 and today in 27 countries has a location in Berlin. In a relaxed atmosphere you can eat char-grilled steaks, BBQ chicken, ribs, burgers, but also salads and amazing desserts like chocolate fudge cake, American cheese cake or skillet brownie sundae.

Already in Berlin for the last 200 years (1811), it has four locations: one in Charlottenburg, one in Gendarmenmarkt & two in Potsdamer Platz. It is a good choice for Austrian and German dishes and for wines. The location next to the Arkaden is at the Weinhaus Huth. You can also stand outside and drink a glass of wine.

The sushis are excellent there. The restaurant has more than 100 different makis, sashimis, nigris and different creations and also has some for take-aways. Sushi Circle is in 11 cities in Germany and have 7 locations in Berlin.

Opening hours: Mon to Sat from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Sun. and holidays only until 6:00 p.m.
Enjoy typical German food with a brewery in the middle of Berlin. You will feel like in Bavaria eating delicious dishes such as roasted leg of pork, baked potato, Wiener Schnitzel, goulash soup, leberkäse, pretzels and apple pies. Try their Pils, Radler, Diesel and many other beers.

You can go to Alex for breakfast, lunch, dinner and later into the morning. It offers pastas, salads, burgers, Flammkuchen, wraps, kid foods and many desserts. It is the perfect place for a drink after a movie. Alex will have Valentine menus on February 14th.

This bar was opened by the famous 6 Oscar winner, Billy Wilder. One of the films of Wilder will be screening at the Berlinale in 2013 in the section Retrospective. It is the 1959 film “Some like it hot”. Wilder is also known for “Sabrina” (1954). If you love cocktails you can choose from 120 cocktails.

What about a restaurant with a view? Then, why not trying out the rooftop restaurant at the Reichstag. You can try their dishes with pumpkin, gnocchis, fried Norwegian cod, flammkuchen or cheese cakes.
If you are planning to go visit the Reichstag and go eat there afterwards, make a reservation. It will save you time and will not need to queue for the Reichstag’s visit. You can also eat there without visiting the Reichstag but you need a reservation and your passport.

Just a few hundred meters from the Brandenburg tower and the Hotel Adlon, you will find the Café Einstein. The Film director, actor and owner of an art gallery,Gerald Uhlig opened it in 1996 and since it has been a place where many personalities love to come. You can eat there but also come for a nice coffee and read your newspaper. Try the Apfelstrudel or Kaiserschmarrn. There is another nice Café Einstein on the Kurfürstenstraße 58.
It is a classy place for international and French cuisine. The service is quick and friendly and the food is excellent with great Wienerschnitzel. You will often see celebrities in the restaurant. Reserve early and try to come before rush hour. Just near the Galeries Lafayette.
Crêperie: perfect for a lunch break; they will serve you thin French pancakes filled with meat, cheese, mushrooms or sugar, jam among other things.
