The little detail that changed her life and brightens yours!

About Solenn Carnaille
Solenn comes from Brittany, Western France, and has been living in Zurich for 4 years together with her husband and their 2 year-old son.

After several years working in project management, in Tokyo and Paris, in design and packaging communication agencies, the desire to embark on entrepreneurship has become stronger and stronger. Only missed the inspiration …

When she married Guillaume in 2017, he was unsuccessfully looking for coloured laces, a bit original, to finalise his outfit. The idea made its way for about a year in Solenn’s mind: why not creating a company offering high-quality laces, made in France and original enough to make a difference on an outfit? Petit détail was born!

The launch of Petit détail
After searching for a partner who could produce her ideas, Solenn found the ideal one: a manufacturer based in West of France, supplier of renowned houses, capable of producing two-tone laces with the tip of a different colour than the lace, in addition to a wide range colourful laces.

After a few tests and samplings, the adventure could start with the production of Petit détail bespoke laces and the online shop petit-detail.ch has been live since October 2018.

The hectic life of an entrepreneur mum
At first, the biggest challenge for Solenn wasn’t the administrative paperwork to register as self-employed and so on, here in Switzerland, but was to manage the launch of Petit détail together with taking good care of her son born in 2017.

In order not to juggle (and struggle) all the time, she had to learn to “go with the flow” and to take advantage of being a working-from-home entrepreneur with no strict working schedule. This helped her to enjoy fully her two new roles, i.e. being a mum and the head of a start-up.

Petit détail laces
All Petit détail laces are designed by Solenn, made in France and are in cotton; waxed cotton for leather shoes and premium cotton for sneakers. All laces are suitable for men, women and teenagers, and with her catalogue of 31 different laces, you can definitely find a pair for every occasion.

With their coloured tips, the Petit détail Brown waxed laces and the Petit détail Black waxed laces bring a touch of originality and elegance while being discreet. On a base of brown or black lace, there are currently 8 colours of tips: blue, green, orange, fuchsia pink, red, yellow, gold and silver.

The Full coloured waxed laces with their range of colours offer a wide variety of combinations with any outfits.

The Petit détail White laces in premium cotton are perfect for customising your favourite sneakers. Their colourful tips bring the touch of originality sought at any age. There are currently 6 colours available: blue, green, orange, fuchsia pink, red and yellow.

Petit détail also offers a service to create laces in the colours of your company or your event (wedding, jubilee, launch of product, seminar, gift of end of year…). The customisation of your cotton laces is entirely in your hands. You can define the type of laces, the colour of the base and that of the tips, the finish and the length. All requests will be subject to a personalised quote.

Petit détail cufflinks
Since Valentine’s Day 2019, 3 collections of cufflinks were added to the catalogue, in barrel, knot or square shape. They are made in artificial silk of high quality and match the colour of the laces. This surely brings a final touch to an outfit and can bring a “classy twist” when associated to sneaker laces.

2020 challenges
With the lockdown, together with traditional shops, e-commerce industry suffers unfortunately quite a lot in this first semester of this year. And so, despite offers made to their clients by e-traders, such as Petit détail, who offers free delivery during the lockdown for any purchase sent in Switzerland or Europe.

Solenn is hoping that after these troubled times we went through, everyone will be willing to cheer up and to brighten their life with special touches of colours signed Petit détail. On her blog, she is for example suggesting future brides and grooms to spend their D-Day in their favourite sneakers customised with laces matching the colour of their wedding. What a nice and subtle way to add personality to a traditional event!
