Let’s start by checking in with how you feel right now. What are your current emotions? Are you feeling good, bad, happy or sad?

I hear people say all the time that “Life sucks!” Frankly this is a terrible thing to affirm to yourself because it just isn’t true! You see, it’s never life that sucks, it’s only ever your thinking about it that makes it look that way.

When you alter your thinking everything in your life changes – you’ll be amazed how different your experience of people, places and circumstances becomes.

Holding on to negativity is a waste of energy

Think about this for a moment – how much time do you waste arguing for your limitations, poor relationships, problems, poverty?

It’s time to step up and start taking responsibility for your life – playing the blame game will just keep you spinning your wheels and going nowhere!

Are you aware that everything is energy and like attracts like? So, if you’re moping around being negative, then you’ll entrench yourself in that energy and keep drawing more negativity to you. But on the flipside, if you’re positive then you’ll draw more positivity in.

What I want you to really understand is this – what you see in your mind creates your feelings and experience of the world 100% of the time… yes you read that right! Your experience is never coming from the outside-in, it is always being created from the inside-out.

Release your limitations

If you want a more joyful and fulfilling life, you have it within your power to have that right now, this very second!

You’ve always had everything you need to make this happen, the only thing that’s stopping you is the thinking and belief you have that it’s not possible.

Your beliefs are merely conditioned patterns and behaviours you learnt as a child. Many of them probably work pretty well for you, while others will be limiting your ability to create the things you say you want in your life. What you want and what you believe you deserve might be two very different things.

Pay attention to your thoughts

Thoughts are slippery little suckers that can be hard to get a hold of. But when you begin to consciously pay attention to them, you’ll start to understand the power of the thought/ feeling connection.

Let me be clear – this is not about making yourself wrong or bad for the thoughts that come in, because the reality is you have no control over that part. This is, however, about observing your thinking with curiosity, tuning into how your thoughts make you feel, and then deciding if you want to hang on to them or let them go.

You weren’t to know

None of this is about giving yourself a hard time for the way you’ve been thinking and behaving. The world of psychology is itself only just waking up to the realisation that our thoughts create our experiences, so it’s of no surprise if this is new to you too.

But now you have this knowledge at your fingertips, what is up to you is what you choose to do with it! You can make the choice today to continue being a victim to your negative thinking, or you can choose to take this newfound knowledge and become the master of your thoughts.

This isn’t something that’s going to turn around overnight. But if you make a daily commitment to consistency and nurturing all the thoughts that make you feel good, you’ll definitely make positive changes in every area of your life.

One of the most powerful things that’s helped me with this process is writing a daily gratitude journal. I now wake every morning feeling grateful for all the blessings I have in my life. I make the choice to think happy thoughts no matter what anyone else is doing or saying.

Your mind is more powerful than you can imagine, and now you have more understanding of how it works you can take back control – in reality it’s the only thing you’ll ever have any control of.
