What a lovely time I had in Strasbourg a few weeks ago. I absolutely wanted to visit the Christmas markets. I was nicely surprised to discover a city completely lit up, like a light show. Almost every street looked different with unique designs, shapes and colors. I saw a tree made up of hundreds of blue lights, chandeliers and bright stars hanging in the streets. The city of Strasbourg also brought to the downtown 90 small Christmas trees on display, which are decorated with colorful garlands or lights.
The best sights were: the facade of the cathedral illuminated at night, the 91 feet (28 m) Christmas tree on the Kléber square with its traditional Alsatian village at the bottom, the decoration outside of the department stores and the Christmas markets lights were the best.
The city will be lit up until January 16th, so if you can go, Strasbourg is the ideal place for a day or two.
Let’s have a look at what you could see:
Hope you enjoyed Strasbourg’s festival of lights and I made you want to go there.
