Inside of the GrottoBroggini in Losone, Switzerland
This is a place not to be missed if you are in Ascona and wanting to eat pasta, salads or pizzas. Try the specialty from Tessin, the chestnuts pie with walnuts.
Situated on the promenade, it is perfect for a relaxing drink after shopping, looking at the people going by or enjoying the view of the lake. Comfortable chairs and benches facing the street are put at your disposition.
Service is good, prices reasonable and you don’t feel rushed to leave. Around 12:00 a.m. on a sunny day, it is already full, so reserve or come early.

You are looking for the perfect place to sit outside on a hot summer evening, so this is it? This grotto did not disappoint me, on the contrary.
Recommended to me by a friend, I was expecting a small and quiet place. I found a busy restaurant , type beer garden with a fantastic ambiance, nice lighting and fast and friendly service. You seat on small or large tables.
The 250 seats outside were all taken when we arrived at 8:30 p.m. Luckily, we had reserved and waited 5 minutes, looking at the chickens being grilled in the large oven.
There is a playground for children so it is the ideal place to bring your family. Try the risotto, half-grilled chicken with rosemary potatoes or the spaghettis with garlic and chili.

In the summer, you sit under a pergola covered with wine grapes. The tables are nicely decorated. The view of the lush gardens with magnificent palm trees and the breathtaking lake of Maggiore make an unforgettable evening or lunch.
Prices are high. Park your car at the church, follow the sign for 3 minutes.

Listed in the tourist office dining guide as the nicest place on the Lake of Maggiore to have dinner, it was not an exaggeration.
Reserve early and you can seat directly above the lake, looking at the island of Brissago. At 7p.m. the 20 outside tables were completely full. Excellent wine list, risotto, fish selection from the lake and great calamari salad.
As it was the full moon and a clear night, we sat there after dinner with a cappuccino and enjoyed the most perfect sunset with the moon reflecting on the lake.
