“Oscar-winning French actress Juliette Binoche will be the guest of honor at the Zurich Film Festival ‘Women of Impact’ dinner on Friday, September 26. This unique event acknowledges those of unique talent and singular dedication who have risen to the top of their field. Despite the strides women have made in every branch of society in recent years, the film industry is still very much a male domain; female directors, producers and studio bosses remain the exception. In acknowledgment, many well-known women from the worlds of culture, economics and politics will gather in Zurich for the celebration.
Juliette Binoche will be interviewed about her life and career by New York–based journalist Tina Brown, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tina Brown Live Media and Women in the World Media, LLC. Binoche drew worldwide acclaim and received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Anthony Minghella’s The English Patient (1996); she was also nominated for Best Actress for Lasse Hallström’s Chocolat (2000). She is currently appearing in Clouds of Sils Maria, written and directed by Olivier Assayas.
Also in the spotlight that evening will be Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard, a politician and lawyer who has been a member of the Swiss Federal Council since 2006. She will speak about her work in the political realm.
Hostesses for the ‘Women of Impact’ evening include Pamela Thomas-Graham, Chief Marketing and Talent Officer, Head of Private Banking & Wealth Management New Markets and a Member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse; Nadja Schildknecht, Managing Director and Co-Founder Zurich Film Festival; Carolina Müller-Möhl, Founder and President of Müller-Möhl Group and Müller-Möhl Foundation; and Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board of Swarovski.”
