In just a few days it will be once again the time when Zurich welcomes its beloved summer music festival “Live at Sunset”. For the 18th time this year many popular musicians and singers will be at the Dolder ice rink for 12 evening concerts.
If you are from Zurich and never experienced “Live at Sunset” or if you are just visiting, don’t hesitate a minute. Just pick someone you know or some music, which could interest you.
The summer open air concerts are events the people of Zurich wait for all year!
Year after year world known artists have come such as Sir Elton John, Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Patricia Kaas, B.B King, Foreigner, Joe Cocker, Simple Minds and many more. Last July it is with the wonderful soul concert of James Morrison that “Live at Sunset” ended. Despite the rain the crowd had a memorable time singing his ballads like “I won’t let you go” and “Broken Strings.”
“Live at Sunset” has it all rock, pop, blues, jazz, metal but also soul and country music!!!
This time it is no-one less than the legendary and charming country singer, Kenny Rogers, who will marvel the crowd for one unforgettable evening. Who does not remember his popular songs “Ruby don’t take your love to town”, “We’ve got tonight” or “Lady” and famous duos with Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton?
Swiss singer Stephan Eicher from the canton of Bern, who has been there in 2001, 2004 and more recently in 2011 is back and will have the honour to open the festival. It has been almost 35 years since his first album “Eisbär” in 1978. He will most certainly sing some hits of his latest album “L’envolée”.
The well acclaimed British singer, musician and long time front-man of Police, Sting, will take part in “Live at Sunset”, twelve years after his first visit. The award winner of a Golden Globe and Grammy awards will surely sing “Roxanne” and many of his greatest hits like “An Englishman in New York”.
Two beautiful and talented women will also be there. There are German singer Nena with “99 Luftballoons” and Italian singer Gianna Nannini, who is mainly known for “Bello e impossibile” and took part in the 2011 Bon Jovi Tour.
As if it is not enough, the metal group Deep Purple, now on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and on tour with “Now, What? World Tour” will with no doubt bring the Zurich crowd on fire with their popular hit “Smoke on the water.”
