On December 15th the “Sports Awards” will be awarded at the Zurich Leutschenbach studio of SSR. The awards ceremony, presented by Sandra Studer and Rainer Maria Salzgeber, will be broadcast live from 8:05 pm on SRF 1, RTS Two and RSI LA 2.
Viewers will be able to choose the winners during the ceremony by calling. Their votes will count as much as the professional jury.
The nominees of the category “Sportswoman of the year” are:
Belinda Bencic, tennis; two WTA tournament wins and first WTA Finals qualification
Wendy Holdener, alpine skiing; Combined World Champion, 3rd overall and World Cup slalom, eight World Cup podium finishes
Mujinga Kambundji, athletics; CM bronze and Swiss record of 200 meters
Léa Sprunger, athletics; European champion 400 meters (hall), Swiss record 400 meters hurdles (outdoor)
Corinne Suter, Alpine skiing; silver at the downhill CM, bronze at the Super G CM, two places on the World Cup podium
Daniela Ryf, triathlon; Ironman 70.3 World Champion
The nominees of the category “Sportsman of the year” are:
Jérémy Desplanches, swimming; money on 200 m medley at World Championships
Roger Federer, tennis; four ATP wins, Wimbledon final
Beat Feuz, alpine skiing; World Cup Downhill Winner, Seven World Cup Podiums
Nino Schurter, mountain bike; cross-country world champion, winner of all rounds of the World Cup, three World Cup victories
Christian Stucki, fight; king of the swiss wrestling
Julien Wanders, athletics; Road World 5km record, European record of 10km and Half Marathon
Others awards will be given to a team, a Paralympic athlete, a coach and to the “MVP of the Year” (Most valuable players).
