TINO POHLMANN – MFORMA#LUX
“Schau mir in meine Geschichte” – “Take a look at my story”
18.06 until 30.06
Venue: Kunsthaus Maximilian
Maximilianstr. 54 – 80538 Munich
The Berlin-based photographer, Tino Pohlmann presented his portraits of 60 residents of Saalfelden Leogang in Salzburger Land at the Kunsthaus Maximilian in Munich last evening. It was an interesting approach to discovering that region, not from its usual picture-postcard façade of prettiness, but through candid images of its people – enabling insights into these people embedded in tradition and modernity.
Pohlmann visited the region end of last year, beginning of 2014, communicated with and chose his subjects wanting to portray people of all walks of life in their typical surroundings. The portrait of the 85 year old Yoga-teacher was specially impressive. I found it interesting that the photographer chose the horizontal instead of a portrait format. Pohlmann is known for his portrait, lifestyle, sport and landscape images. The exhibition ran in Berlin, Hamburg, Kunsthaus Vienna and will move onto Saalfelden in July.
Although this project was commissioned by the Tourism Board of the region in order to present themselves in another “light”, it has successfully combined the fields of marketing and art. Apparently that region offers laid-back surroundings for a get-away-from-it-all break: mountain climbing, hiking, art-walks and workshops, biking, jazz festival, wellness and alpine slow food. Perhaps well worth a visit during their Salzburger Almsummer. The International Jazz festival is from 28 – 31.08.
