What the Fashion Industry ought to Change—and What It Means For Your Wardrobe

Fewer Fashion Shows, Fewer Sales, More Common Sense: Here’s What the Fashion Industry ought to Change—and What It Means For Your Wardrobe

As the world goes through an unprecedented new phase of economic upheaval, a deeper analysis of materialism as the root cause of the extremes of wealth and poverty has taken on new urgency. Such an analysis involves two fundamental questions. First, what is the difference between “materialism,” which is hazardous, and “material prosperity,” which is a worthy individual and social goal? And, second, what is the most effective mode of soul driven leadership for moving society beyond materialism and facilitating the achievement of true prosperity for a more equitable and just economic system?

Fashion during and after the pandemic

A PANDEMIC has forced us to hole up in our homes in little better than T-shirts and robes. In this stagnation, it’s easy to think that fashion isn’t important – but how can something not be important when it sits right on your skin?

Fashion is, by nature, a means to protect ourselves: whether it is physically or mentally. Never in my life would we had imagined that instead of wedding gowns or evening gowns, we will be manufacturing face masks.

And what’s next is apparently a line of attractive but protective outfits. What we’re doing right now is designing a collection for people to feel safe to go out of their homes, slowly. That will still have to be comfortable, fashionable, and washable.

How will my client feel good when she’s doing the groceries?”

As we know occasions and events are mostly cancelled or postponed but we can always feel happier by dressing up well and looking great. Capsule collection containing a few essential pieces is a need of time for all wardrobes.

The basic silhouettes remain in trend for a longer period of time without the need for replacement. It usually consists of two pairs of pants, one-skirt three basic shirts and a scarf. This can all be interchanged to create various looks depending on how creatively it is worn. Neutral colours are preferable as they can be paired easily.

Jewellery and accessories add glamour to the garment. People of short stature can opt for long dangling hearings whereas people who are tall can wear studs and then grace to their look.

We used to do two collections a year. Now, all we want to do is just maybe one, and spread it out. Our friends and half our clients have enough already in their closets. Now is the time to really evaluate — how can we make really special items that are really needed by our clients?”

“We’re not selling fast fashion; we’re not selling things that you wear for one season but hopefully last a lifetime”

One dress, four seasons

It is a well-known fact that the way we dress is linked to the way we live!

Do you have a long dress made up of incredibly perfect and comfortable fabric for every season? Just because it is made of a light fabric doesn’t mean you cannot utilize it when it’s cold outside.

A black dress in the wardrobe is everyone’s go-to piece of clothing. You can style it in so many different styles. However, any other light colour will also do justice to your wardrobe.

In spring, you can rock your favourite dress along with a floral print bag and earrings. After all, what is spring without flowers?

In summer, you can wear a Maxi dress with your favourite sunglasses, a belt around your waist, and a scarf. Carry a high-quality classic basket bag with it to lift your look and vibe with your summer dresses.

For the fall, it is a good idea to wear the same piece of clothing with a dark cardigan and earrings to look beautiful and aesthetically welcoming. You can even use it as one of your date nightdresses.

Coming to winter, adorn yourself with an oversized roll-neck sweater and a shirt dress. Perk it up with a check coat and a classy black box bag. Accessories are also an important factor when you style a dress multiple ways.

Be Creative

Now that you’re aware of so many different ways to style a dress, it’s time to get down to experimenting and be creative. You can do a lot with the same dress, so feel change in your style and mood…

Meanwhile, SHENANNZ has been busy with her attempts to restructure and make it adaptive to a post-pandemic world. We see this crisis as a challenge and an opportunity to be most creative.

Be glamorous and embrace the change!
