Great entertainment, glamour, amazing fashion collections – all for the good cause:
The closing of Charles Voegele Fashion Days was an evening of music, fashion and charity.
Charles Voegele brought the first Fashion Rocks to Zurich. Founded by Prince Charles in 2003, Fashion Rocks has been in London twice and also in Monaco and Rio de Janeiro.
The money goes into the Prince’s trust and is redistributed to charity projects they select. In Zurich the charity chosen was a project for Tanzania supported by German Magazine “Annabelle”.
Chief Editor of Annabelle, Lisa Feldmann stood up to talk about the project. She said some money of the show and the auction will help build a birth clinic in the town of Dar es Salaam.
It is quite expensive to build a clinic. The German charity organization CBM already sent 9 million euros for the Tanzania Project “Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation for Tanzania”and Annabelle readers 130, 421 Swiss Francs (Nov 17th, 2011).
When the clinic is done, ladies will be able to get care during pregnancy and to bring their baby to the world in a country where childbirth is difficult.
The auction selling bags, clothing, rings, shoes and other accessories will extend until the end of December 2011 on Ricardo.ch.
Two well-known Swiss moderators, Max Loong who had come especially from Los Angeles and Jubaira Bachmann (MTV & VIVA) presented this evening of glamour.
Highlights of the evening were:
Next Autumn/Winter Go for OAKLEY!
Fashion Rocks started with the 2012 beautiful collection from Oakley. First came the models for winter sports attires: bright and flashy colors with lots of yellow, bordeaux, green and deep blue.
It looked comfortable, practical, trendy and sexy.
Then models wore some of the casual/weekend clothing from Oakley. The best was when the designer of the brand arrived on the catwalk.
Finnish freestyle rider, Eero Ettala, who came at last in a Bordeaux outfit, said he picked the colors himself for his collection. It was his first show on the catwalk. He said he felt more comfortable on his snowboard but “maybe after five years, you will see more of me on the catwalk, you never know.”
He talked about his brand new googles for winter sports which are convenient due to the rapid change of weather in the mountains. It allows changing the lenses quickly if it turns from a beautiful day to a more challenging kind of sky where it is hard to see on the slopes.
Globus Spring & Summer 2012 collection from Maison Scotch and Soda, Levi’s and Hugo Boss was a pleasure for the eyes: classy for business or casual with beautiful black and pink silky dresses for the women. Oh Land the Danish singer, who released her second album this year, accompanied the models of this collection wearing an elegant silky beige body with rustles.
The closing ceremony ended with the collection of Little Black Dress (LBD). I was expecting lots of black but the collection was a white collection, the bridal collection, except the last dress which was a deep blue color. Models wore masks, spangles, veils, long tails and one of them even carried bread and a salt shaker on her head!
But the best was the models of Julien MacDonald’s models on the catwalk.
MacDonald had chosen for his part the British Pop group Hard-Fi. Hard-Fi with front man Richard Archer seemed to be enjoying his time on the podium and it was as loud as their last album title “Killer Sounds”, released in August this year.
Julien MacDonald, who made his debut with re-known German designer, Karl Lagerfeld, and then later by Alexander McQueen, came to Zurich just one month after ending his five day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
He looked as if he had recovered from his tough climb to 19,341feet (5895 meters). MacDonald, who talked to Walesonline reporter, said “My toenails were black and my lips were four times the size of Mick Jagger’s.”
Julien MacDonald is a man with a big heart as he was here this year at Fashion Rocks. It was his second participation since the foundation in 2003 and this year he climbed
Kilimanjaro for the two charities, Change UK and TAS.
His collection for autumn and winter 2012 was remarkable with awesome colors. He was proud to say that the last dress for the evening was worn at the Oscars by the German model Heidi Klum.
Can’t wait for the next Charles Voegele Fashion Days!
Thanks to IMG Fashion for inviting me to the amazing closing ceremony.
