GLOSSARY: SPEAKING INSTAGRAM’S LANGUAGE       

To be successful on Instagram it is very important to know and understand app’s language. This little list will help you in learning some basic terms.

CAPTION. Instagram caption is a text under your post. This is not a compulsory element of your publication, but it’s impossible to become a well-established blogger or an influencer if you don’t talk to your audience.

COMMENT. An Instagram comment is a very good way of mutual interaction. It is created by pressing the cloud icon and typing the message.

EMOJY. An Emoji is a picture, used to signify a feeling behind your text. Emojis make your captions more expressive and visual.

ENGAGEMENT. Instagram engagement reflects the general level of interest to different elements of you profile.

FEED. Instagram Feed is a place where you can see Instagram content. It can reflect either your publications (Profile’s Feed) or the list of recommended / new posts of those who you follow.

FOLLOWER. An Instagram follower is a user who follows your account and interacts with content you post.

GEOTAG. An Instagram Geotag is a location mark, which you can add to posts and stories. It is perfect for interaction with people around your area.

HASHTAG. A hashtag is a label for content, which helps to find materials dedicated to a certain topic. A hashtag always starts with a hash (#) sign.

IMPRESSION. Impression measures the total number of times users saw your post or story during a certain period.

LIKE. An Instagram like is a sign of approval, which user can give to your photos and videos. Despite being disabled in some countries, likes still remain the most important element of engagement.

REACH. Reach is the total number of unique accounts that saw your Instagram post or story during a certain period.

SHARE. An Instagram share is a way of sending an interesting content to preferred user. It can be done by pressing the arrow icon under the post. 

TAG. An Instagram tag is a source of identifying someone else in your post or story. It must start with a “@” symbol and include the referred username.
