In There Together

I promised a friend to write a lovely piece with no sadness or pain inside. I leaned my neck back, let the thoughts inside my head to move. I closed my eyes and tried thinking. Despite the fact I have lived a life I didn’t choose and wanted most of it, I have had enough fun that I can write a story about it.

While I am writing this funny interesting piece, I thought why can’t I add some real-life comedy. I have always been a huge fan of the American sitcom, “Friends”. Let’s start with the first few real statements from the show. Monica, one of the main characters, tells Rachel, as Rachel is starting an independent life away from her father, “welcome to the real world! It sucks. You’re going to love it”. How ratable!

Ross, the dinosaur guy, also another main character, says “This sandwich’s the only good thing going on in my life” it made me realize how can a sandwich or a great meal made with love be one of the best things going on in our life. As a food lover I would give Ross a five! Just remember that you may need to give it with gloved hand recently.

Chandler, my favorite character, I can say we could be brothers in sarcasm. Chandler tells “until up to twenty-five, I thought the only response to I love you was oh, crap!” and I thought for a long time that the only response to “hello, I am here” was oh, crap! Is the story still funny, ha?

Yet maybe it is the way that I learnt  to raise my voice, to prove I am here. You and me are here. And we are supposed to stay here together with respect even if we are different. Even if Joey doesn’t share food, he still shares love. If even you run weird like Phoebe, I would accept that or maybe give a try like Rachel did.

Two different voices could make a song, a funny lovely song like this piece, like your mother’s food and your friends talk, like the sweet taste in my mouth when I got my first step out of the border and when I got my first word out of my mouth, reciting a poem in another lovely land about home.

Hello, I am here. She is here. He is here. We are here and we can fight and we should fight to keep this world our warm home.
