About Angharad:
Angharad Elliott is the founder of Haute’Xposure. Focusing on photographing properties, her work is not only for the real estate market but also the more creative side of the industry. Alongside architects and interior designers, Haute’Xposure aims to enhance the value of these properties.
In addition to her photographic work, Angharad has lectured in art history for nearly 10 years, after specialising in the Dutch Old Masters. It is the familiarity of this work that influences her personal photographic vision: the play of lightness and darkness
Currently based in Switzerland, a nomadic lifestyle influences her eye; the smallest of details detected at a distance. Speaking numerous European languages, Angharad travels extensively, finding pleasure both in her work and her leisure. Occasionally, time stops; her Australian husband, their constantly changing pack of hounds and yoga bring stillness to her driven vision.
Her story:
The story behind the real estate photography company, Haute’Xposure, started back in a small country village at the base of Ireland’s Galtee mountains. Hidden behind a medieval castle was John Nash’s Swiss Cottage. These architectural highlights were the childhood playground of its founder, Angharad Elliott. Without little acknowledgement at the time, they would later become the driving force behind her eventual move to Switzerland and the desire to build her own Swiss cottage.
Ultimately the Swiss mountains become her most forever home, after spending extended periods in numerous European cities studying art and architecture. Now, living in the Swiss Alps, she is surrounded by the beauty of nature every day. With a desire to recognize and record, her teenage passion for photography returned. With an easily available canvas, she recorded another story, her surrounds. The natural progression after constructing her own Swiss chalet was to tell the stories of other homes and buildings through the art of real estate photography.
Fascinated by the visual image since childhood, her creative and artistic focus veered towards the study of the Great Dutch Masters. Lightness and darkness captured simply to tell a story. For nearly a decade, Angharad studied and surrounded herself with the work of these realistic painters and storytellers. In turn, she was inspired to tell the stories of these creators in the role of educator.
Finding her way to Haute’Xposure:
Her role evolved: telling the photographic stories of architects, designers as well as artisans and artists. Haute’Xposure is the culmination of this artistic narrative. Property photography in this alpine region is predominately ski chalets. Outside of the Val de Bagnes, Angharad, with Haute’Xposure, has photographed properties and homes across Switzerland, as well as France and Italy working with architects, as well as interior designers and artists.
Whether renting your ski chalet or selling your beach villa, Haute’Xposure captures your story to find your home new owners, even if they are only temporary.
Working not only with estate agents but also with private individuals, Haute’Xposure provides photographic services to rent and sell properties. Traditionally, properties were marketed with a simple portfolio of photographs. These days, the choice is endless. Haute’Xposure creates a package that works for you from a combination of:
In the event that your property does go to market but you would prefer to minimise visitors to your home, Haute’Xposure offers 360 virtual tours as well as walkthrough videos.
This technology has not only been used to market private residences but also in artist studios to increase their digital exposure. As the COVID-19 lockdown eased in Switzerland, Angharad had the opportunity to meet up with the Montreux-based artist, Angela McFall. Angela was putting the final touches to These Days before its new story began with an Amsterdam collector.
The importance of the interior and the designer:
An interior tells the story not only of the designer but equally important that of the client.
Photographing this narrative is filled with details. A careful use of predominantly natural light to expose each feature requires meticulous attention. Inspired by the chiarascuro technique of the Italian Caravaggisti, light and darkness hide and enhance these details. Simple lines and shapes expose strong compositions through the use of shades.
The collaboration between client and photographer creates a natural image filled with an intense narrative.
Respecting clients´private space:
As a property and interiors photographer, Angharad is more than aware of how it feels to occupy someone else’s private space. By reducing the footfall but still maintaining the interest, you can stay safe in the knowledge that your property or your product is being marketed without risk. When visiting clients, she is respectful of your private space.
It is an honour to be invited into your home and to enhance its exposure.
