Everybody wants to be happy. The things we do in life, the goals we set, ultimately, we all want to be happy!
A desire rises, we want something and once we have it we are happy. And then another desire rises, which makes us strive for it. And this way it continues and we tend to postpone our happiness. We think that we will be eventually happy when this happens or when that happens.
Lasting happiness is a state of mind, a concrete experience you can make. Independently from the outer circumstances, happiness, the inner mental condition, can become permanent through Shiva Dhyan Yoga.
Observing your breath, thoughts dissolve, emotions pass by, you get focus and clarity, you feel peace in the heart. You experience SHIVA – Synergy with yourself, Harmony with humanity and the world outside of you, Inspiration, Vastness, your perception expands and Awakening. You experience and awakening of your awareness. Dhyan means focus and designates the ability to master your mind. Yoga is the union with yourself, feeling in harmony with yourself, releasing inner tensions, fear and doubts. It is a reconnection with yourself and you realize that your inner Self, it is always happy, it is always at peace.
Often we tend to limit ourselves with our thoughts. We might think that something is not possible. When you go into this space of no mind, you open up yourself to the infinity of possibilities in the entire universe and you can afterwards start thinking out of the box, overcoming thought patterns and the imprints from the past.
In that moment, you are in a state of being. You are not thinking anymore, YOU ARE!
It is a moment of deep reconnection with ourselves.
Freedom – this is what you feel when you reach the state of no thoughts.
It is a life-transforming and liberating experience once you get to know this inner space of total peace, harmony and the feeling of being aligned with yourself.
Shiva Guruji Aruneshvar, Shiva Dhyan Yoga Master from the Himalayas
When we try to please others and adapt to outer circumstances we are outward-oriented. The circumstances change at their own pace. On the contrary, your inner condition, it is in your hands: When you become master over your own mind and emotions, you get the ability to live the life you love and love the life you live!
It is extremely beneficial when we take few minutes, to re-center and practice, being with the breath, being in the present moment and releasing all the thoughts.
How to get started
The thumb of the left hand touches the tip of the left index and with the right hand respectively. The other fingers are stretched. You can pose the back of the hands on your legs sitting on a chair, sitting in lotus or semi-lotus posture or lying on the back.
The focus is on the breath, while inhaling and exhaling naturally, softly through the nostrils. When you inhale you are concentrating on your breath and when you exhale your attention is totally drawn to the breath. When thoughts come let them pass by and refocus your attention on your breath. Inhale and exhale through the nostrils naturally and be with your breath.
Touching the tips of the index fingers and thumbs increases blood circulation in your brain, enhances concentration and releases tensions on mental, emotional and physical level. The blood pressure is balanced and a sense of true well-being arises.
It is a specific hand gesture, “mudra” in Sanskrit, named Dhyan Mudra, which means focus. Another name is “Abhay Mudra”, signifying “fearlessness”: through this meditation you are able to focus and release fear, doubt and worries. It brings you true happiness within. You feel that you are in harmony with yourself and with the world around you.

Mudras, the ancient hand gestures are an important component of Shiva Dhyan Yoga Meditations and extremely powerful. They have been used for healing for thousands of years. The nerve system and all five elements are represented in the hands. That is why these mudras are very effective and bring a physical, emotional and mental balance in you.
SHIVA refers to all the five elements of nature, which are also represented in your hands: Sky (Element Space/Ether), Horizon (Element Earth), Ignition (Element Fire), Vastness (Water), Air, your breath.
